Gnarly Ad Featuring Red Bull Team Skater Ryan Decenzo

Tags: , ,

Here is how the ad for the Red Bull Manny Mania contest was filmed. It went down in Toronto and it went down like this.  Two large 18-wheeler semi-trucks pulled up at the Yonge-Dundas intersection followed by a mini-van with a secured flat roof that served as a mid-drop landing pad. Once all three vehicles came to a complete stop with bumpers touching, Ryan and Magnus rushed out of a nearby van to get into place. Decenzo climbed on top of the first truck, ran full speed towards the man-sized gap between the two semi’s – kickflip – still flying 20 feet above Canada’s busiest intersection, the second gap approached fast. After an ollie down to the reinforced van, and not a second later, another 8 foot drop down to street level presented itself almost too suddenly – frontside 180. Boom. Priceless.

Red Bull Schlittentag: Best Runs And Crashes

Tags: ,

Schlittentag is the German word for sledding day. Put simply, it translates as daredevils willing to propel themselves down a snow-covered hill and over a jump on a sled they built themselves. Three person teams stretch their imagination to build the wildest, fastest sled this side of the Alps. One is the pilot and the two others help give their sled the push it needs to win the race and the fame and fortune that follows. Red Bull puts on some of the funniest events for sure.

Travis Pastrana To Attempt To Break World Record In Long Beach

Tags: , , , , , ,

Travis Pastrana who is the star of the MTV show Nitro Circus will try and jump his Red Bull rally car more than 200 feet off the end of the Long Beach pier onto a floating barge. Pastrana will be going about 100 MPH when he zooms down pine avenue, off the landing ramp and onto the barge. This will be the longest jump landed in a car or its going the longest jump into the Long Beach Bay depending on the outcome. Here are some pictures and video clips of the take off ramp and the landing ramp on December 31, 2009.

The First Session In The Coastal Carnage Bowl

Tags: , ,

Today June 15, 2009 at about 4:30 pm the last corner was finished on the Red Bull side of the Coastal Carnage bowl. I initially got a call from my friend Seth Elson from Four Star Fabrication and he gave me the scoop that he and his partner Brian Ferrel had designed the red bull bowl and it was going up. Knowing people is a good thing! I was there with skateboard in hand to be the first one in and hit 4 corners in it. Shortly after Eric Lee started skating it with me as well. About 1.5 hours after that Abe and Jason got done with their narley add-on section of the bowl which is basically another bowl that is sponsored by Converse shoes, and the first real session was on. The section that Jason designed is appropriatly named because you have to be thinking on that side the whole time or their will be carnage. After watching the first couple of runs it was clear to see that the scene of the most carnage is going to be the doorway. Tricks that where completed today where bowl to bowl spine transfers, grinds in the corner pocket and three people made it over the doorway of death and Abe got a nice grind in on his last attempt. Its nice to see the lead construction guys ripping the bowls the hardest and that would be Eric and Abe both with nice doorway rollovers! Here is a few pictures of both sides of the bowl and a video clip of us (I mean them :-) skating and mid afternoon walkaround of the construction going down on the bowls.

Rune Glifberg takes the Wellington Bowl a Rama!

The inaugural Wellington Bowl-a-Rama has just wrapped up.

The inaugural Wellington Bowl-a-rama has just wrapped up. With a rain delay from Saturday the 16th to Sunday the 17th, Wellington turned on a beautiful sunny day and the locals ensured the support for the riders was at a constant high.

The attending international professional skaters were all blown away by the hospitality of Wellington and have all said they will be back for next year’s event.

Wellington Bowl-a-rama ’08 could not have been possible with out the incredible support of Oakley, Wellington City Council, WCSK8, F Beat Productions, 7 Ten Split Productions, Manual Magazine, Spitfire, Empire Skate Shop, Red Bull, Sandwiches Nightclub, Skull Candy and C4.

The Masters Event was run as a half hour jam for the 8 riders and showed that skateboarding is a pursuit for a lifetime and with the presence of such legends as Lance Mountain (USA), Pat Ngoho (USA), Sasha Steinhorst (USA) and New Zealand’s own Andrew ‘Morri’ Morrison all the younger riders present have seen just what is possible if you choose to follow the skateboarding lifestyle. 1st Lance Mountain (USA), 2nd Pat Ngoho (USA), 3rd Steve Crump (NZ).

The pro event had riders from the USA, Italy, Denmark, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. The international field of 26 riders made judging very hard with such a highly competitive field. In the end the three standout riders for the top three positions made the judges job that extra bit difficult because of how close they were in scores. Rune Glifberg’s (Denmark) 540 at the end of the final heat was just enough to put him on top in First Place closely followed in Second Place by Benji Galloway’s (USA) mind bending runs of switch stance mixed in with highly technical tricks which just held off Omar Hassan (USA) in Third Place.

Winner Rune Glifberg said in his acceptance speech; “New Zealand has a very beautiful and organic culture that is very inspiring and that makes me very happy to be here, thank you”.
