After everyone sharing Bill Eppridge’s LIFE Photos of New York City Skateboarders In The 1960s, it’s time to move on to another era, the 80s.
In 1985, Doc Brown invents time travel. People do a lot of drugs. Skateboarding gets crazier, probably from Marty McFly making skitching famous, or maybe it was just the drugs. In 1985, another film was also made, Future Primitive.
A few things to look out for: twin towers, beehive haircut, and a really weird ending.
“In the 80s, this is what street skating was often like: just a bunch of guys ripping down the street, crashing into things and generally having a blast. In other words it was pretty damn silly a lot of the time – and a hell of a lot of fun.
Along with the Bones Brigade, that’s Christian Hosoi in there with the green hair, along with Dave Hackett (acid-dropping off a semi truck), Ian Frahm (ollieing up onto the wall at the Brooklyn Bridge banks – big trick at the time) and some other NYC locals.”
