We recently recieved an email regarding the Maryhill Festival of Speed 2013, which we are happy to pass on to bring some extra attention to a great event. Check it out!
~~~ Volcanic Promotions is pleased to announce the 7th annual Maryhill “Festival of Speed” June 26 – June 30, 2013; North America’s largest gravity sports festival. It is known throughout the world as one of the best race courses and venues. The event continues to be the most anticipated downhill skateboarding world cup event in the world each year. Participants and spectators can look forward to the stellar reputation of the International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA) as the Sanctioning body and facilitator for the 2013 World Cup race.
An estimated attendance of 2,000 spectators will be able to watch 200 of the world’s fastest Downhill Skateboarders battle it out on the 2.2 mile, 22 corner historic Maryhill Loops Road in Goldendale, WA; while enjoying a jumbotron, action sports exhibits, food, musical entertainment, and more.
Volcanic Promotions is proud to begin a new partnership with ColossoVision in collaboration with Push Culture News this year. With the addition of Live HD Webcasting this year; qualifying, racing heats and athlete interviews will be seen worldwide. Coverage can be seen on U-Stream as well as many action sports websites. Anticipated unique visitors viewing the webcasting is expected to be appx.50,000.
The prize purse will remain one of the largest in the world and easily the most on the IGSA World Cup Series.
This year’s event will feature a new racing format that will reinforce Maryhill FOS as the “toughest” race in the world to win. With only one qualifying run this year, athletes will need to ensure they qualify well in order to secure a top starting position in two 96-man racing brackets. The top 48 finishers from each of these racing brackets will then transfer into a final 96-man World Cup final racing bracket on Sunday.
The event continues to foster a strong sense of community throughout the gravity sports industry. Furthermore, it reinforces the IGSA World Cup Series as a strong foundation for developing gravity sports in safe environments for both professional and aspiring amateur athletes. Last years event had the highest entries in the Junior I (age 8 – 13) & Junior II (age 14 – 17) in the history of IGSA sanctioned events. This shows that the sport and event continue to grow at a rate never seen before.
The event will be featured in numerous media outlets including, the IGSA Media Guide (10,000 print copies distributed throughout the world) and pre and post event stories in Concrete Wave Magazine (35,000 print copies distributed throughout the world). Other media outlets include pre and post event stories and photos on IGSA’s “Official” website, Maryhill event website, Push Culture News (a prominent action sports website), YouTube, numerous skateboard-related websites worldwide as well as regional and local media.
