Built to Withstand the Abuse of Everyday Skateboarding: The Rowley RapidWeld Pro

Skateboarding

Vans ultra-durable iteration of the Rowley Pro introduces innovative skate materials while holding true to the shoe’s original design DNA.

Here at Skateboarding Magazine, we’ve been long-time fans of the classic Rowley Pro Release. It’s been one of the classic staples of skateboarding shoes. Back in 1999, Geoff Rowley reigned in the skate shoe world, obsessed with chunky, heavyweight looks, with a lightweight design that brought skate shoes back to their roots.

Now, Rowley and Vans are releasing a brand new colorway and design, which is marking the 20th anniversary of the original Rowley Pro model.

This holiday, Vans and legendary global team rider Geoff Rowley unveil their latest partnership: The Rowley RapidWeld Pro.  The shoe delivers new technical updates, while staying true to its original DNA and aesthetic.

Well over two decades into his career, Geoff Rowley is still known for jumping down gaps and handrails few others would step up to. Leaning into Pro Skate innovations, Vans has created a shoe that can match Rowley’s standards and hold up to high levels of abuse.

With the Rowley RapidWeld Pro, Geoff wanted a WaffleCup outsole, which provides skateboarders the best of both worlds through vulcanized flick and board-feel in the forefoot, and support in the midfoot and heel. As its name suggests, the shoe also utilizes the Vans’ RapidWeld upper detailing – a stitchless construction for improved fit and feel, and seamless durability.

RapidWeld eliminates bulk with its advanced upper panel welding, utilizing a thin, heat-fused film between panels and replacing the need for conventional stitching. The technology forms an extremely strong bond, which is highly durable, flexible and lighter than traditional construction. A considerably slimmer tongue and refined ankle padding further reduce visual and physical bulk.

The shoe is built with Geoff’s favorite version of the Ultracushä HD sockliner, providing Vans’ highest level of impact cushioning without packing out over time. Duracap reinforced rubber underlays have been added in high-wear areas to provide lasting durability, with the goal of saving everyday skateboarders time and money.

The Rowley RapidWeld Pro is now available at authorized Vans retailers. Learn more at Vans.com/skate.
